Moore’s Law describes a trend in computing, in which the number of transistors that can fit on an integrated circuit doubles every two years. The predicted final end to this trend would be the single-atom transistor, which some had seen as still perhaps ten years away. That is until a group of Australian scientists went and did it this year.
